The Berkshire Golf Club is looking to appoint a Club Secretary to replace the present incumbent who is retiring due to ill health. This well-known, traditional members’ club seeks a candidate with proven golf club management experience.
The role is responsible for the entire management of all areas of operation of the Club.
The Berkshire is proud of its reputation as a great ‘club’: fortunate to be the custodian of two world class golf courses; appreciative of its culture, values and family-friendly atmosphere; and home of one of the great golf club lunches. It is vital to the role that the Secretary engages with all members and staff to ensure that this attractive combination of qualities is maintained and further enhanced, so providing the welcome to visitors for which The Berkshire is famous.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Proven golf club management and administration experience.
- Strong leadership, diplomacy and communication skills. The Berkshire employs in excess of 50 staff and a significant element of the role is to ensure that all staff appreciate the special ‘Berkshire ethos’, imparting this to members and visitors.
- A respectable standard of golf and an appreciation of golf and its traditions within a private members’ club.
- Business acumen, financial and IT literacy and sufficient knowledge and experience to ensure that the Club is compliant with all statutory and regulatory matters at all times.
The remuneration package will be commensurate with the role, comprising salary, an element of performance-related pay, pension contribution and private health insurance. A three-bedroom property is provided on the Club’s premises.
