Golf Genius’s live scoring added greatly to the excitement, with several starting well and going into the minus column at some stage (better than levels 2pts and ‘under par’!). The winner in the end, repeating a victory from last autumn, was John Holmes (5) Ifield with 36pts. Runner up was John Douglass (6) Liphook. Alex Woodward (+1) Hankley Common with 34pts was third on countback from Robert Shaw (12) Tyrrells Wood. The remaining qualifiers were Shah Bani-Sadr (7) Rowlands Castle with 33pts, Brain Lever (15) Beccles also with 33pts, Richard Leeves (+3) Chestfield with 32pts and Patrick Dawson (8) West Hillwith 31pts. John Green (11), a guest from The Royal Household Golf Club, beat everyone with 37pts. Congratulations to those who have qualified for the 25thFinal at Royal St George’s in May 2022. Accommodation details etc. will follow shortly.
The course – especially the greens – was in superb order, which was matched by the excellent alfresco BBQ lunch. Very nice to be outside, without a gale blowing…
Our thanks to Richard Penley-Martin, Denham’s GM, and his teams both on and off the course who could not have done more to ensure our day went so well. Thanks too to the Captain, Committee and Members for their generosity in, once again, allowing us to stage an event at their Club. It is a privilege that we never take for granted.
Further thanks to our supporters, Majestic Crystal, Golf Genius, Golf Car UK and Bluefin Sport, without whom it couldn’t happen! Special thanks go to James Sibbles of Golf Genius and multi-tasking Philip Vince of Majestic Crystal, whose photographic skills are now way past his chocolate delivery ones.

P.S. Unsurprisingly there has been a mini rush to enter St George’s Hill on August 4th, which will be the next round of the Championship. We are fast approaching capacity. However, there are a considerable number of entries that are ‘pending’ – that usually means the entry fee has not been received and therefore the ‘entry’ is NOT confirmed! Makes sense?
