Rain, rain go away…
‘The Gogs’ is perfectly set up – two courses, wonderful expanded clubhouse and excellent practice facilities which was made good use of by many; it is easy when it’s all so convenient.

The clear winner with 38pts was ‘tour’ regular Ken Woolford from Hanging Heaton (fast disappearing – having given up biscuits, losing as many pounds as he scored points!), playing off 16. Runner up was another tour stalwart, Dave Mabbott (8) Langley Park with 35pts. Third was Lorne Smith (8) Fine Golf and the last qualifying place went to Stephen Toon (11) Sunningdale with 33pts. Ian Pattinson (6) – he of TV Rules fame, scored 35pts, but is unable to play in the final. We look forward to seeing them at Formby next year, if not before. There were many close to qualifying calls. However, at just over half way, there are still plenty of opportunities to make the Final. Enville on November 6th, with a relatively late start of 10.00 still has places, whilst the spring venues of North Hants and Notts are already filling.
Our thanks as ever to the Captain, Committee and members of Gog Magog for their generosity in allowing us to, once again, stage a qualifying event over their delightful course. Thanks too to James Fuller, our host, who had everything organised exactly as one would wish, and to John who was so cheerful and helpful all day with food and drink requests and to Fiona whose patience was tested prior to our eventual arrival.
Harry McInley of Eagle not only led the Supporters but he also managed a runners up spot with 36pts, very well played. Paul Mainstone of Sawted looked after the scoring aided with photography and chocolate distribution whilst John Hayes of Marsh enjoyed lunch a little more than his golf, please expect a call!phi of Majestic Crystal provided the smiles, chocolate and handed out the prizes. Thanks to them all.
