The winner was a ‘new boy’ Al Adam (8) West Sussex, who coincidentally and a little helpfully is also a Goodwood member, who scored 35pts winning on countback from a very welcome guest Wes Cooper(6) Moor Park. The second qualifying spot went to another ‘new boy’ and substitute, Martin O’Sullivan (12) Reigate Hill with 34pts (who was filling in for GM Mike Ducker, who recently moved house) and is now on his way to Saunton – well played. The third qualifying place went to our host Goodwood’s own Stuart Gillet (1) also with 34pts.
Plenty of space at Broadstone on October 1st!?
We were treated to the customary Goodwood exemplary welcome and five star service, with both coffee and bacon rolls and lunch (a superb bbq) taken al fresco – our thanks to all at Goodwood both on and off the course for showing us how it should be done.
Thanks to Golf Genius and in particular Nick Smith we were able to introduce live scoring, easy to operate and fun to view. With one member of the each threeball entering the scores you were able to see where you were in relation to the rest of the field (or how far behind!) as well as there being a complete result on completion of the round.
Our thanks go to all who attended and in particular the Supporters. Liam Burns of Eagle (now +4) still managed 32pts. Craig Higgs and Nick Smith of Golf Genius added considerably to the technical success of the day. Bluefin Sport were represented by Dan Thompson and Golf Car UK not only had Matt Patton present but ‘new boy’ Marc McCracken and two guests who, we hope, were sufficiently impressed to perhaps try their luck at a future venue. We sorely missed Philip Vince, who was busy recovering from cycling up the Pyrenees, but whose prized crystal graced the table. The only disappointment being the last minute withdrawal, the day before, of the remaining Supporter.
