There were three qualifiers and unsurprisingly the ever competitive Trevor Glover (9) and our host came out on top with an excellent 37pts. Runner up and another perennial finalist, was Patrick Dawson (8) Burnham Beeches with 34pts, who had made the long drive to qualify in ‘the last chance saloon’. Dennis Wright (5) Penrith, whom we had not seen for a couple of years since his move to his new club was third, also with 34pts.
Lymm is a wonderful example of what can be achieved in terms of sustainable golf and head man Stuart Yarwood must be congratulated on the quality of the sward and the presentation of the course.
Our thanks go to all at Lymm, especially to Mrs Elaine Glover for the lemon posset! It was a very jolly and enjoyable occasion. Our congratulations to those that qualified, and to those that did not, look out for the entry form for the 15th Open in next month’s issue of the newsletter.
Thanks too to Dean Poynter of Eagle, Paul Mainstone of Jonas/Clubminder and Philip Vince of Majestic Crystal, whose time and company are greatly appreciated.
