The course was in wonderful order given the recent weather and the rebuilt greens a testament to modern design (Devilish!), building and above all management, putted beautifully, not that our winner would have necessarily agreed with that after four putting the first!
Clearly that only spurred her on, winning by a clear point Julie Ruscoe (14) Colchester amassed 35pts, a score matched by the runner up, in great current form, our host Phil Bonsall (2) Piltdown, who had previously qualified for next year’s Ganton Final at The Berkshire – well played on a very busy day! Liam Burns of Eagle also scored 35pts off +3, having also had a 58 at his home Club Chislehurst over the weekend…The other two prize winners and qualifiers for the Final were Stephen Blake (13) Worthing with 34pts, qualifying for his first Final after several years of loyal support and David Mabbott (8) Langley Park, also with 34pts. Well played one and all.
We were joined by a number of ‘new boys (and girls)’ and guests who we very much hope to see again, now that they know what The GCS – Open is all about?
Piltdown is a most welcoming and comfortable Club with a testing course; our thanks to the Committee and Members for allowing us to enjoy what we hope they don’t take too much for granted. Also to our host Phil Bonsall and his entire team, both on and off the course, who ensured that we had a day that really did get better and better. If you weren’t there you missed a cracker!
Thanks too to Richard Dixon of BRS/Teeofftimes, Tim Read of Golf Car UK for his liquid refreshment and to the Chief Engraver (Philip from Majestic Crystal) for his generous supply of chocolate. It was also good to meet with Greg Newman, Business Development Manager of Peninsula, from whom we shall be hearing more in the future.
Thanks to the photographic Majestic Maestro
One can’t get enough
and you can slip him an order whilst you are about it!?
