The GCS – Open Championship
Once again it will come as no surprise, that we have had to cancel our visit to Saunton for The GCS – 24th Open Championship, Final. May 17th, the date of the Final, is also the day chosen by the Prime Minister to allow travel/stay away, but not before!
However, all is not lost and thanks to Martyn Bonner, the Captain and Committee of Hollinwell (Notts Golf Club) we have saved the day and the Final will now take place, as a one round event on the afternoon (from 13.30) on May 24th, 2021.
Play will be in fourballs, there will be minimalist catering and very sadly no prize giving. There will, however, be a Champion! Given Hollinwell’s location and proximity to the M1 it is to be hope that as many of you who have qualified for the Final will be able to make an appearance. If that turns out not to be the case, I’m afraid you will have to count as another COVID19 casualty.
We hope that this will come as a pleasant surprise and that you will feel sufficiently confident to enter The GCS – 25th Open Championship immediately?

Full handicap allowance will be given. The results will be determined under the CONGU 2008 guidelines Appendix O for Mixed Golf. There will be a card play-off for any scores that tie, based on the last nine holes on each scorecard, including events that have two tee or shotgun starts. Play will usually be in three balls.
At each of the Regional Tournaments and at the Final there will be a dinner followed by the prizegiving.
