The winner was Tim Aggett (1) Staddon Heights, who had qualified the previous week on very nearly home soil at East Devon – with a superb 36pts. Ian Pattinson (6), a Contributor to the newsletter and former BBC tv ‘Rules man’, was in second place on countback and qualifying for the Final at Royal West Norfolk, just up the road from his home club of Royal & Worlington & Newmarket. Third was our regular contributor Jezz Ellwood (5) Ellwood Golf & Media and fourth Patrick Dawson (8) Burnham Beeches, both of whom had previously qualified, on 35pts. Fifth and qualifying for Brancaster next May, was Alex Woodword (+1) Boyce Hill, also with a very commendable 35pts. The remaining qualifying spots went to Stuart Gillett (2) Goodwood with 35pts, Julie Ruscoe (13) Colchester, 34pts, and with a broad smile on his face (after missing out last year) John Aughterlony (12) Rochester & Cobham Park with 33pts. The final qualifying place went to our host Andy Stubbs (5) with 32pts. Well played everyone and we look forward to seeing you in Norfolk in the new year.
Our thanks to all at West Sussex, especially to Peter behind the bar who made everything on our arrival work so smoothly, Andy Stubbs and his entire staff, not forgetting the members, who we hope were not inconvenienced too greatly whilst all of us were enjoying their course and playing at a proper pace.
Our thanks to Philip Vince of Majestic Crystal for the prizes, photography and chocolate… To Jamie Abbott of intelligentgolf for the spot-on scoring, to Phil McInley (whose 33pts ensured he too ‘qualified’) for the cards. Thanks to Mike Harris and Chris OHagan of Golf Monthly. We also had the pleasure of meeting Paul Smith of Teeofftimes/BRS for the first time. Our thanks to them all – also to Barry Gibbs of insuractive who is currently in plaster after an op on his ankle – get well soon!
See you all in the New Year – all good wishes in the meantime.
